Accreditations and Accolades
GeneScan is committed to quality, technical excellence, and customer service. These commitments serve as the foundation of our operations and have been demonstrated to the US market by the hard work and achievements of our motivated and talented staff. The outside evidence of our success in meeting these commitments is shown by the following:
ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation
GeneScan like other labs in the GeneScan family has been accredited to
ISO/IEC 17025 standards by the American Association for Laboratory
Accreditation (A2LA) for detection and quantification of bioengineered
DNA in food and agricultural products using polymerase chain reaction
(PCR) techniques. ISO/IEC 17025 is an internationally recognized
standard that provides rigorous guidelines that define the quality
management procedures of a laboratory.

New Zealand MAF Approved Laboratory
New Zealand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) has
approved GeneScan USA, Inc. for Genetically Modified Organism (GMO)
testing. As part of its Plants Biosecurity Program, MAF approves
international laboratories to test seed being imported into New Zealand
for the presence of unapproved GMOs. GeneScan USA has been
officially recognized as competent to provide service in accordance with
MAF standards and has received full approval for testing protocols for
sweetcorn and maize, oilseed rape, and soybean seed. GeneScan USA
is currently the only MAF approved laboratory in the US and one of only
three MAF approved laboratories worldwide.

FASMAC Licensee
The regulators in the Japanese market will utilize the Japanese
Standard Method to determine the presence and quantity of bioengineered
agricultural products in the Japanese market. FASMAC Co., Ltd., one
of the co-developers of that method and the exclusive operator of the
method, has licensed GeneScan USA, Inc. to provide those services in the
North American market.

Four Consecutive Pinnacle Awards
Procter and Gamble (P&G) has awarded GeneScan USA with the
prestigious Pinnacle Award for Excellence in Good Laboratory Practices
and Quality Systems. As part of its quality assurance program,
P&G conducts vendor audits to provide independent assessments of the
current conditions in facilities that manufacture, handle, or store its
products. To obtain a satisfactory assessment, a laboratory must
demonstrate its commitment to achieving high technical standards,
maintaining operational efficiency, and improving its processes to insure
customer satisfaction. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that
GeneScan has achieved this distinction after scoring a 100% QA rating
during the 2004 audit.
Vendor Audits
Many of our clients are worldwide leaders in their markets and
maintain strict vendor certification programs to guarantee the quality of
their final products. GeneScan USA has been audited by several of
these large, multinational companies and has always met their standards
and scored high on their rating schemes.
USDA-GIPSA Proficiency Tests
The US Department of Agriculture, Grain Inspection, Packers and
Stockyards Administration (USDA-GIPSA) has implemented a proficiency
testing program for detecting bioengineered corn and soy. GeneScan
USA consistently scores at the top of this on-going program and has put
together a string of eleven consecutive 100% ratings dating
back to 2002. Our success in this series demonstrates
GeneScan’s ability to provide accurate analytical results for a
broad spectrum of bioengineered products.
